Identity
God made only one of you.
In our current culture, we are flooded with tests and assessments designed to help us better understand who we are and how our personality interacts with others. Within our unique design, we each bring something different.
One of my favorite parts of my job is calling out the gifts and uniqueness of my clients. Each person is so beautiful with different abilities, passions, and personalities. Each person brings something so different and needed into the world. A set of skills that sets them apart!
Oddly, these unique qualities are often not seen by the one who holds them. Other people might have told them that everything about them is wrong and worthless. Even family members may have said that they were stupid, odd, and useless. Those who lack confidence in themselves often are those who speak these toxic words, but the poisoned words can eventually kill off the most beautiful plant. It’s devastating to watch, devastating to experience.
I want you to pause and ask the Lord what He made unique about you. Look at the specific areas of life you enjoy, ways that you are gifted, your life passions, and even your favorite color. Each aspect of ourselves is a part of our uniqueness and creates our story and direction in life.
If we find this to be a struggle, often, it could be that we cannot hear God’s voice clearly enough to understand. During these times, it helps to ask an encourager we trust to give us some direction about ourselves.
We all were created for a unique path in our lives that sets us apart from all others, and when we are not walking in it, we miss out, and something in us dies off as each year passes. Once we find who we are and what it is we were put on this Earth for, something activates and comes alive. We were made to understand ourselves considering how God made us and walk our life with purpose and direction with the fullness of our identity and knowledge of our divine direction. I look forward to the things in you being activated!
What things do you consider part of your uniqueness? Choose one or two and pray about them. Ask God how those things can benefit Him. Would it be in a ministry? In a business? In sharing time with those around you?
