from Joanna God wants you to pursue Him. In my job, I have the opportunity to see deeply into people's lives and be a part of their journey, which brings perspective. But, sadly, what I often see is a lot of people comfortable with being in the "coffin of life." We are often unaware of what we are missing out on because where we are is familiar. Based on those around us, we see that no one is truly living, so we settle and assume that this must be the best of what life has to offer, or we go in pursuit of finding fullness to only find more defeat and emptiness. I am not talking about looking at those in the world but those in the church walking around dead and comfortable in their coffin clothes. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
I remember a time in my life looking at John 10:10 and wondering if there was any truth found in this verse. If Jesus came to give life, why do I feel dead? Why do I feel stuck if He came so that I might be free? I was taught that things would get better when we get to Heaven. Yet, that idea brought no hope. If I had to wait until Heaven to experience the fullness of God, what was the point of life? This quest between God and me lead me on an amazing journey towards MORE! It awakened something in me that I did not know existed this side of Heaven. Scripture suddenly became multicolored instead of black and white, metaphorically speaking. I started to sense the fullness of God's presence in my life daily, moment-by-moment. How is this done? By pursuing God with all of you! More specifically, by removing lies that distort our perspective, eliminating areas that hold us back, and living in a space of worship with our lives. We can be convinced that worship begins and ends with our time at church. However, if we believe that worship is only for the inside of the church building, it will bring death. On the contrary, worship is a life pursuit. It will build a connection with the One who made us. He came to bring us life and that more abundantly! In what ways would pursuing Him help you break out of the coffins in your life? Pray through the steps with God: Ask him to remove lies that distort your perspective, eliminate areas that hold us back, and show you how to live in a space of worship.
