It is important that we take care of ourselves. And according to Proverbs 4:23, we have to be especially careful with our hearts. It reads, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” That means that we need to be alert all the time. We should monitor not only what we give from our hearts, but we also need to be aware of what we let in. We do need to work out of our overflow — of energy, joy, and gratitude. Don’t be afraid to rest. Don’t be afraid to take time to enjoy time with your family, a good book, or a delicious dessert. And one of the best things we can do for self-care? Spending time in worship or prayer with our Father, the Royal who loves us the most.
