We desire to see everyone living in a healthy relationship with the Lord.

I enjoy hearing great stories of triumph! It is encouraging to dive into the lives of those who have walked against impossible circumstances and accomplished great things. It is the stories of these great people that have filled and inspired my journey. 

Often, we see only the wins of others but do not realize the moments of defeat they walked through to get to where they are. In the future, I will be sharing my journey on the JSM page for encouragement to those who are walking ahead or behind me. Why? You might ask.

From the display at the Mobile Museum of History, located on Royal Street:

For almost four decades, this pair of galvanized tin lions sat atop the Mobile County Courthouse, flanking the imposing terracotta statue of Marianne. They were damaged during the Hurricane of 1916 and removed…. The History Museum of Mobile received the statues in 1970, and since 2001, they have graced the atrium, not far from the site of their first lofty perch.

Lions are majestic creatures. Fierce and powerful, they often represent strength in literature and the arts. Royalty has aligned itself with lions for ages, and the big cat is called the King of the Jungle! We don't know what the architects intended when they placed these lions atop the nineteenth-century Mobile County Courthouse next to the statue of Mariana, goddess of liberty, but we can guess. Maybe they wanted impressive symbols to represent the county, hoping for Mobile to reflect the strength and nobility of the animals the figures portray. They are tall and detailed, arguably beautiful. However, in the end, these lions are hollow figures made of tin.

How blessed we are that Jesus, the Lion of Judah, is not hollow. He is fierce and powerful! He is strong and noble! And He is our Lord who wants not only to protect us but also to connect with us. Are you in need of some muscle today? Let Jesus be your King. He is well-equipped to handle not only jungles but anything else that may come your way!

And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
