This rooftop view is from our office building, skimming the tops of the oaks that wreathe Bienville Square. Left to right are the Regions Bank Building, the RSA Trustmark Building, the RSA Battle House Tower, and the Van Antwerp Building. These four buildings are undoubtedly icons of the Mobile skyline. The new grocery store in Downtown, Greer’s St. Louis, even has a “Mobile Skyline Bread Pudding” on their deli menu. I recommend it! We recognize cities, trees, clouds, birds, and many other things as they stand in silhouette against the heavens. For example, we can distinguish Mobile from New York and oaks from pines by the figures they hold against the sky. What does your spiritual skyline look like? I am asking myself the same thing. Can people distinguish my shadow, my space, from that of others? Do I remind them more of a strong oak, a weeping willow, or a rotten tree with no fruit? Am I building things that are strong and substantial? I pray for my spiritual silhouette to be iconic, one that displays faith and strength that comes from God. Comments? Questions? Email me!
