Celebrating Pentecost

Yesterday was Pentecost, a day recognized on the fiftieth day after Passover. This was the day that the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit for the first time. They were in Jerusalem, wondering, waiting, possibly even pouting. But their waiting paid off with the sound of a mighty rushing wind.

Here we are, more than 2000 years later, still benefitting from the blessings of the Holy Spirit. And, like the disciples, when we seek God, we may wonder, wait, or even pout. If you are in a seeking season, let us recommend some songs about the Holy Spirit that you can listen to while you wait.

Holy Spirit Worship Songs

Our prayer is that you have a continual fresh encounter. That you do not settle for stagnation but long for more. Pentecost, we believe, is a powerful time to remember the work that God has done and continues to do.

We also encourage you to watch a message that Joanna recently taught called “The Invitation to More.” It is focused on the time leading up to Acts 2.

When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Well, friends, I’m stuck on another song! I have had “Fresh Wind” on repeat for days! It was written by Matt Crocker, Ben Fielding, Brooke Ligertwood & David Ware. This song really resonates with me because when we look at the world around us, and even at the Church, I realize how much we need a fresh wind right now. We need the Holy Spirit to come into our lives for healing and a reminder of how much love comes from the Father. If we cry out to God for reformation and for revival He will answer.

Publication Date: 1990

Significance of Title: We need to have an awareness of and a connection with the Holy Spirit. This book encourages us to have an awakening in our relationship with Him.

Biggest takeaway: For years, I was encouraged to regard Benny Hinn with distrust. However, after reading his testimony about how he came to know the Lord and first encountered the Holy Spirit, I realized that we can’t deny someone’s story. He has walked a powerful journey!

Who should read this book? Someone who has never had an encounter with the Holy Spirit, or someone who wants a fresh encounter.
